Calls, whats around your neck?
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:37:44 PM »
So, I saw this thread in Waterfowl forum, so I thought I would add it here.

What do you have around your neck when you call the ole predators?

I have:

Lil Dog
Hot Dog
Sceery Rabbit closed reed
Sceery Distress open reed
Ki Yi
and Circle (not too sure about this one, but it worked for Racoons...)

Now, I just need some of those custom calls to add to my collection....I carry some of my calls in an old sunglass zip up case...

I have an old Carlton Rabbit in distress call, and a fawn bleat.  That is it.  No wonder I cannot shoot anything!
Also have a few mouth calls for elk, that apparently will work.

Typically I use one of my own, but I also carry one or two by Bearmanric. I also like Arky Yoter's calls and of course my Burnham Brothers C3 Long Range. I have a lot more, but can't hardly find time to use them all.

I carry a mix... along with my remote!

I usually have 1.) a mini-howler/open reed distress. 2.) an enclosed reed tuned for Juvinile Mntn Lion Vocals.  3.) an enclosed reed tuned for rabbit distress. And 4.) an enclosed reed echo chamber style tuned for fawn distress.

All my own usually, unless I'm trying out someone elses. Typically they're either #2's, or prototypes. The #2's are cosmetically flawed but still functional. The prototypes are experiments in sound and resonance, usually just roughed out. Both kinds are calls I don't plan to sell, so I use them myself, and give them away to people who take me hunting! ;)

http://[

These calls are by one of the Masters, Mr. Rich Cronk. I have made a trade for a 'Grantham' call but dont have it yet. I had to trade a call very dear to me for the Grantham.
That call in the middle standing up is a "one of a kind, first" done by two master call makers. One Mr. Weiser turned the barrel out of Cocobolo and one Mr. Cronk carved the sound board.
I got it auction style via long distance. LOL
Its fun showing them

I have a fox pro for now but I do use a Johnny stewart call (can't remeber its name) when they get close. I have a howler too I will have to look at the name.
